We’re a couple of weeks into the new year, and if you’re a cyclist, you’ve probably resolved to ride more this year. As we all know, nothing makes those extra miles more fun than a new bike.
We’ve got all our 2011 bikes on sale until they’re gone. Specialized, Jamis, LOOK, and Orbea; as long as it’s a 2011 bike, it’s at least 25 – 35% off. Carbon road, 29er MTB, and simple bikes to get around town are all on sale.
Our stock list is after the jump, so “read more” to find your bike. We’ll keep this list as accurate as possible, but feel free to call, email, or stop in for more info.
You’ve seen them on the road and on the trail: Specialized Test Bikes in those distinctive colors, carrying a rider who’s probably wearing a huge, goofy grin.
We love having the demo bikes here – 24 hours on a top end bike is the best way to help you make up your mind – but it’s time to make room for the next crop. If you’re looking for new ride and you don’t mind a scratch or two, here’s what we’ve got:
FACT IS 9R Carbon Fiber Frame w/Zertz seatstay inserts
FACT carbon monocoque fork w/Zertz insert
Full Shimano Ultegra SL 6600-G Group & Wheelset
Color: Purple/White
Size Available: 54cm/MD
The price is really, really low. We’re not advertising it here (please come in for specific numbers) but we’ll say this: you can get the full carbon Roubaix for an aluminum frame price. The best part? You can DEMO THE DEMO! Pay the demo fee, ride it for a day, and if you like it, subtract the fee from the price and take that puppy home!
The 2012 LOOK bikes will be soon, so this is a great time to score a 2011 for a great price. Above is the 2011 LOOK 566 Rival – a cutting edge endurance road bike with a smooth, lively ride – and we’ve got it on sale. We only have one left (!) in a size Medium/53cm (54.2cm virtual top tube), in the above color and parts spec. Great chassis, full SRAM Rival gruppo, tried-and-true Mavic Aksium Race wheelset, and $400 off MSRP. What more could you want?
Well, it looks like when you make a great bike, you get might just win an award. We’ve been hyping the 2011 Specialized Tarmac Elite Apex as an enveloping pushing ride; a true entry-level carbon road bike that doesn’t compromise in terms of ride, handling, or performance. Now it looks like the rest of the industry is starting to take notice. Bicycling Magazine just announced that the Tarmac Elite Apex is their Editor’s Choice for Best Recreational Road Bike. Whether you’re looking for an affordable carbon race bike or an all day ride won’t leave you wanting for something a little faster, this is a bike worth considering. We have it in stock in all sizes, so come by and ride an Editor’s Choice.
So, uh, remember that bike that Specialized announced on Wednesday? Well, Matt Goss from HTC-Highroad just rode it to victory in the 2011 Milan-San Remo Spring Classic! We’ll check the record books, but this might be the first time a bike was ridden to victory in it’s debut race. One-for-one, batting 1000, however you want to say it, the new Venge is off to an amazing start.
This doesn’t happen often, so you’ll have to excuse our unbridled enthusiasm; SPECIALIZED JUST ANNOUNCED A COMPLETELY NEW ROAD BIKE! The S-WORKS Venge – developed with McLaren Racing (F1, anybody?) and soon to debut at Milan-San Remo – is not just a new bike, it’s a whole new category of bike: Complete Performance. The Venge will be offered four ways initially: SRAM ($8800, pictured below), Dura-Ace ($9200), Frameset ($3800), and for the first time ever, an above S-WORKS version, the S-WORKS + McLaren ($TBA, pictured above).
Blending the stiffness-to-weight supremacy of the Tarmac SL3 with the aero-dynamic wizardry of the Shiv, the Venge gives riders the best of both worlds. Check out the link, tune into Milan-San Remo, and add the word “Venge” to your cycling vocabulary.
The passage of time is a funny thing. There are times when we look back and think how quickly time flies by, but the very next moment an event in the recent past seems like it took place a lifetime ago.
Take the 2008 season. It was only three years ago, but the age of Quickstep as a super power – Tornado Tom in green, Paolo Bettini in world champ stripes and Olympic gold – seems like a lifetime ago. Since that time, Cav has risen, Lance has retired (again), and the most talent-rich team in the world might just be from Luxembourg.
The coming of the 2011 marks a birthday of sorts; the Specialized Tarmac SL2 is three years old. Why is that good? It means that same bike that was developed for and ridden by the best team of 2008 can now be yours for pennies on the dollar. Come in, test ride the 2011 Specialized Tarmac SL2 Elite with SRAM Apex, and whisper to yourself, in an Italian accent of course, “I am Specialized.”
In case you haven’t heard, Specialized has released their new S-WORKS helmet for 2011: the Prevail, as in, “cooler heads prevail.” We’re really stoked on the new S-WORKS lid, and apparently CyclingNews and BikeRadar are pretty happy too; 4.5 out of 5 stars!
As if there weren’t enough reasons to “make the leap,” the SRAM Road Diaries just released the above teaser for their 2011 SRAM Red group. Lightest, best-featured, and now the sexiest, the 2011 SRAM Red stuff looks amazing. Come by the shop to find out why eight pro teams are riding Red this year.
The 2011 SRAM Apex 10 speed came out last summer, but the long-term reviews of SRAM’s entry-level road group are just starting to come in. We’ve always been huge fans of SRAM’s road groups and we’re especially stoked about the high-performance, high-value Apex group. We currently stock seven road bikes with Apex – Specialized Allez, Tarmac, Secteur, Roubaix, Dolce, Ruby, and Crux – so it should go without saying that we’re pleased to hear that BikeRadar can confirm what we already know: SRAM Apex offers near-elite level performance at an entry-level price.
