winter is over and spring has sprung ok winter is back no wait it’s spring for real this time the rainy season has come to the droughtridden savannahs well whatever, we’ll deal with it later. No matter what the weather is, you can feel that buzz in the air. Everyone (if you’re reading this far into the post [thank you, by the way, I work hard on these!] probably you moreso than most ) is ready to ride. That first glimmer of shining sun and that first touch of warmth in the air is bringing cyclists of all kinds out in droves.
As anyone who has gotten a flat fixed here at the shop before knows, we pride ourselves on the efficiency, speed and of course quality we provide with out flat tire repair service. In order to continue providing that level of service, we have to raise the price of flat tire repair from $13 to $15, effective January 1st. Not a significant of a jump, just wanted to give a heads up before the change went through.
To offset some of the increasing cost, for a limited time we’re bring back the ever popular Flat Fix Punch Card. $50 dollars buys you 5 flats, (that’s $10 dollars per flat for the less number-inclined among us) and the card is available now through January 15th so stop by and get yours today. Limit 1 per customer.

Last week we left off with a few tips on how to stay warm on the bike as the weather gets colder. Today we’re going to expand on that idea with some helpful visual aid provided by Bicycle Therapy’s own 68-time consecutive Employee of the Month, Jacques-Maria Manuel de Factice Maniquí-Manuel.
Or Manny for short.
Manny has a reputation for being the strong, silent type and doesn’t often begrudge himself complaints regarding the weather, but don’t let that stoic demeanor of his fool you. He cherishes on-the-bike warmth. Stick with us (and Manny) after the jump for a handy guide on how best to combat the approaching winter. Read More »
Don’t let the gorgeous weather and comfortable temperatures fool you. It’s officially Fall and if our watches are correct, the sun is setting earlier and earlier.
This is all to say that starting Tuesday, October 1st, we’ll be falling back (sorry) to our Fall/Winter schedule. We’ll still be open later on Wednesdays, but as of this week and until the Spring, Bicycle Therapy’s hours of operations are as follows:
The road group arms race just got kicked up another notch, or another gear if you will. On the heels of the introduction of Shimano’s new 11-speed Dura-Ace mechanical and electronic groups, SRAM just announced two all-new 11-speed road groups and a slew of options for fully integrated hydraulic disc and rim brake set-ups. Pics, pricing, and weights after the jump!
Bicycle Therapy is proud to host the kick-off meet-up/sign-up for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 4th Annual Aptalis CF Cycle for Life ride. Come by the shop this Friday, April 12th at 6:30pm to learn about the event, meet people from the CF Foundation & cycling team, and most importantly, sign up for the ride!
We’ll have light refreshments and free samples of cycling products for you to enjoy while you’re at the shop and just by coming to the meet-up, you’ll be in the running for some great cycling door prizes. Even more enticing, Specialized & Bicycle Therapy have donated some premium-level cycling gear to be raffled to off to ride participants and awarded to top-level fundraisers.
The 2013 edition of the CF Cycle for Life ride event will take place on Sunday, October 13th at the Mann Music Center. Cyclists will ride through some of the most scenic terrain the Delaware Valley region has to offer. Last year’s ride set a record for most participants and money raised. The CF Foundation has raised the bar for the 2013 campaign and we all want to see you there.
As always, you do not need to own a bike to participate in the event. The CF Foundation will be working with local bike shops to have both road and hybrid bicycles available to rent the day of the ride. Follow us on twitter, @CFCYCLE_PHILLY, for updates and chances to win promotional giveaways. Contact either Jason Brinn or Dean Kitagawa, with any questions you may have.
We’re having a hard time believing it, but the 2013 racing season is already upon us. Here’s something we’d never doubt: our fast friends on the Bicycle Therapy – Melitta Racing Team are off to a great start.
The team always appreciates hearing our cheers on race day and by coming to their fundraiser, we can show our support by giving them a much needed financial boost.

If you ride a lot, one of the first things you realize is that there is no such thing as the perfect bike; no such thing as the one bike that does everything. I mean, you at least need a single speed rigid 29er, a pump track bike, a fully mtb, an endurance carbon road bike, an aluminum crit bike, and a dedicated steel commuter bike, right?
At the same time, we cyclists are always searching for that perfect bike that will handle everything with aplomb and finally allow us to make some room in the stable. The 2013 Camber Comp might just be the bike to handle such a tall order. Don’t take our word for it. Check out the glowing review over at BikeRadar.
We’ve got the Camber in stock at the shop and we’ve even got it available for demo rides. For just $75, you can ride the Camber Comp for up to 48 hrs. If you buy one, that $75 goes towards the price, and if you decide it’s not quite perfect, we’ll give you your $75 back on a shop gift card. Come check it what may finally be the perfect bike.
